It´s good to know that these old wooden houses carry sound, so if you are very sensitive to every day noise from kids and family upstairs, or other tourists in the flat upstairs you have to think about it. Many people live like this in Reykjavík downtown, during recent reconstruction in 2021, I tried to sound proof ceiling as much as it was possible with special material, noises are now noticeably muffled down, but it is not possible to eliminate them to zero.
