It is 2 km from the town centre, a 15-minute stroll to the train station and on a direct route from Dublin Airport, 30 minutes away by car. Attractions of Drogheda include 5 golf courses, including 3 links courses, all within a 15 km radius, an array of pubs and restaurants as well as art galleries and theatres. St Laurence’s Gate, Magdalene Tower, Millmount Museum and the old walls and alleys of the town are all located within 500 meters of the centre. The River Boyne runs through the historic town with its viaduct crossing the river to the east and the Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre at Oldbridge to the west. There are long sandy beaches to the north (Baltray and Seapoint) and south of river (Mornington, Bettystown, Laytown and Gormanstown) which are popular with sand racers and walkers. There is horse racing at Bellewstown Racecourse in summer and on the beach at Laytown. Sea and river fishing is also available in the area.
